I have been using VirtualBox for almost 10 years, always a clean install of Windows with a single version of Delphi per VM.  I use a shared folder with the host for all the source, only the host talks with the repos.  Delphi versions like 10 to 11 are always a new VM (enterprise lic for Windows) with a new repo chain for testing builds on a new version, just in case.  I do make monthly backups of the VM images and use the CloneVDI tool to compact the image/drive to save space on the host.  And I never use the VM's to access the internet outside of Windows updates and trusted 3rd party update tools that require access from the installed VM.  Make sure you do not let your anti-virus scan the holder were the VM images live.  This makes laptop replacement easy and with a couple of hand tweaks to the vbox file they can run (not at the same time) on my Linux machine if needed.  I run multiple VM's all day long; dev and SQL VM with services to simulate the user environment.

And how do you manage with delphi licence?

And I still think Idera has the math all wrong. If they sold Delphi Developer at 1/3 the current price, I believe they'd more than triple their sales. As a hobby developer I'd be prepared to spend that instead of using the CE, which I'm currently using.

Edit: At the very least Idera should do some market research and ask CE users what they'd be prepared to spend for the Developer edition. Heaven forbid, they might even attract some new developers instead of just bleeding their current user base.

Emb must attract new users, however it's include not only lower price for SKU but also compilation for linux in CE edition.  As almost all solutions are written for linux. Share of delphi in open source is miserable.

    The same with me:

"Our records show that you have previously obtained a trial license for this product and version. A trial license can be issued only once. If you would like to extend the product evaluation, please contact Embarcadero Support

    Thank you,
    Embarcadero Team"

    Then, Embarcadero Support answered me:

"We received your request to increase the registration limit for Delphi Promotional Community Edition. This promotional product has a limit of three (3) registration per user. Increasing the number of registrations is not available at this time."

Yes, I used Delphi CE 3 times - in 2020, 2021, and 2022 obtaining a new license after expiration.

What that mean? So we can use 3 times (years) and then goodbye? Is here anybody from Embarcadero and could answer about this problem?

If you have an active subscription, contact Embarcadero to have your standard Named User license converted into a Network Named User license. The price is the same and they usually don't have a problem with that. But beware that you will have to run your own license server to use such a license. It's not trivial but also not rocket science either. I run ours in a VM under a minimal Ubuntu Linux server because it needs less resources than Windows, but it can also run under Windows.

    Thank you for the information!

I also use Delphi in many VMs. To overcome the installation limit I have switchen to a Network Named License and make use of my own license server (ELC). This allows me to install Delphi on as many VMs I want as long I have it running on up to three machines simultaneously.

So how much Network Named License cost?

Yes, what?  Yes, you answered the question?  Or the answer is yes, you installed a Trial license and not a CE license.

Yes, I had installed trial on my machine. I had this issue before "Our records show that you have previously obtained a trial license for this product and version" when i tried to install CE. So i emailed someone (found on some forum, cannot remember which one) about that issue and that issue was resolved. And now i have the same issue. I lost email address whom i wrote to resolve that issue. And maybe someone know whom to write to resolve this issue.

P.S. Sorry about my english, it's not my native language and i use it for reading only.

By simply downloading the latest CE version after your CE license expires.  A new license will be emailed to you.

I did it but all what i got was this:

Our records show that you have previously obtained a trial license for this product and version. A trial license can be issued only once. If you would like to extend the product evaluation, please contact Embarcadero Support

    Hi

I'm getting the same. I emailed support and got this reply " The Delphi Community Edition product is supported differently from the other Embarcadero products. Since these products are not eligible for update subscription the Support for these products is only available in the Community Forums,  Embarcadero online documentation and the product Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Here are links to the Community Forums and online resources for the Community Edition products". I've checked all of the links they gave me and I cannot find a single reference to extending the licence.

Prev time i got the same answer when tried to get a licence extention via support. Whom to write i got from forum or stackoverflow i can't remember. So i am asking here maybe someone can tell me how to extend.

    Hi,

When your licence expires, go to the CE download page, login with the username your current licence is associated with, and go through the process to download the setup file (it's still D10.3.3) - you can cancel the download once it is offered. You should then be emailed the usual Welcome emails, but your registration email will contain a new key. Use the Licence Manager to install the new key, which will extend your Community Edition licence for another year.

You should of course ensure you still meet the community edition licence criteria.

Accually a got this instead of licence key.

Our records show that you have previously obtained a trial license for this product and version. A trial license can be issued only once. If you would like to extend the product evaluation, please contact Embarcadero Support

    Thank you,
