  1. I'm looking for a full-time remote Delphi developer position. I'm interested in something challenging. Startups are OK. If you have an open position, call me between 8am and 8pm ET in the US, at this phone number: 724-992-8695. I'm good with being part of a team or I can be the sole developer. I've created software products, from scratch, as sole developer in the past. I would also be interested in working on in-house systems that are not sold as products. I've used Delphi since version 1 and have experience with many different database systems.

    BIG changes

OK, I'm moving as far away from hand coding as possible. So, I'm looking for a company that wants to do the same. If you have new projects or legacy systems built with Delphi and you are looking to hire someone to replace coders or you just want to get started now with the AI code generating future, I'm available. PM me with your contact information and I'll be in touch.

    BIG changes

Oh, I'll have to mention it. There are people who don't want to be writing code all day and they would like to know. Feel free to not read my posts about it.

    BIG changes

I don't have time to blog, but thank you for the suggestion. I'm moving right into building apps by generating the code, so I'm busy busy busy ...

    New forum?

It's been decided, coding is dead. We need a forum here that covers generating code with AI and other tools. I know it's a source of contention among coders, but the future is now! Let's not join the party late, from being stubborn. NOTE: NVIDIA's CEO said, last year, that coding is dead. One hour ago they announced they beat on revenues and earnings. The no-coding IT world has arrived.

    New forum?

OK, well it's the OOP vs Functional battle all over again. Anyway ... I just thought I would ask. It's certainly time for Delphi to get back to it's roots and forge a path of low-code/no-code into the future.
  7. Is there no one in the US building something awesome with Delphi? I keep looking but I'm not finding much. Mostly, it's just your same ole' same ole'--reinventing the wheel and making a dollar a day with all the pop u can drink. No one out there has come up with something lucrative and fascinating to develop and make fat stacks of cash?! This is sad, so very very sad.

    Looking but not finding...

Excellent! Even though I don't want to ride the startup roller coaster, I do like seeing people launching new technology.

    Looking but not finding...

Thank you! Patrick. I like that you said "(real) job offers." In the US we get a deluge of fake one's all the time. I want to find an opportunity, to use Delphi, to create solutions a company uses in-house to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. It also needs to offer great compensation--my latte costs alone are HUGE. lol Like the startup world, creating technology to sell, isn't of much interest to me these days. I'm really enjoying writing books right now, I might even be getting addicted to it. My interest in the computing world is about understanding the application domain, then building a solution quickly by generating the code (not entering it at the keyboard). In other words, I like to use Delphi and RAD to accomplish what it was intended for: Rapid Application Development. As for others here, I would suppose they are looking for a challenge to their coding skills. Maybe, some component development or updates to legacy applications. But, that's just a guess based on the posts I see here.

Oops... So, you would be another startup. That would make 3, maybe 4 that I've found. Something to consider is finding potential customers and seeing if they would fund the development. That way, you would have money and live testers. Startups sometimes do that to get an MVP done.

    Looking but not finding...

It did not. Now that I'm writing again, I'd like to do some Delphi stuff too. Writing is great, but it's difficult to do that for long hours everyday (well, at least for me it is). About 3 or 4 hours working on a book and I need a change for the rest of the day. I have put in 12 hour days of writing, turning out 7500+ words, but it leaves me worn thin for the next day.

It's my favorite IDE. I like others VS, Eclipse, etc, but prefer to work in Delphi.

Been there, done that, wore out the t-shirt. I'm not much interested in the startup scene these days.

    Looking but not finding...

I have found a startup or two that is using Delphi. But, I'm not really looking for that kind of situation. Too much of a roller coaster ride for me.

    Looking but not finding...

I've found some jobs, but the pay is low because they are wanting to grow the IT department larger. I'm looking for a unique opportunity that is exciting and very, very lucrative. I no longer need to build a resume or climb the corporate ladder. This is depressing!

    Looking but not finding...

My lifestyle requires $150K/yr just to support it. I can't wait three to five years for a startup to take off or go belly up.
  17. What you are trying to do is reverse engineer the application - you start with a working app and you figure out how it does what it does. Reverse engineering happens everyday, but it is done by very experienced software developers.
  18. That is 100% correct! Either intentionally or unintentionally that is the situation.

    Delphi job

Partner.co is looking for a Delphi dev, but I had problems using their ATS, so you might want to contact them and ask for a way to email your resume instead.

    Delphi job

Don't use that, I had problems with that. I received an email for me to schedule an interview and it didn't work. The company didn't call at either of the times specified. Also, the options to confirm, say thanks, and whatever resulted in a mailer daemon error. Don't provide any information until you speak with someone. I think Craig Kinney is the contact for that position.

    Delphi developer needed in Denmark

Do they have to already be in Denmark or will you relocate the right person?

Looking for a couple of good "starter" Delphi books

It's a pretty good book, a lot of language type stuff. With low/no code being the focus today (again), look at component based development and generating most of your code. Learning to write all the basic code patterns before becoming productive at app development is a waste these days. If you study all the low-level stuff, you'll end up finding yourself on programming forums fighting about how to shave one clock-cycle off of a 10,000 line module. Also, as you have already learned, ten years will go by and your app still won't be ready for release.

    Delphi Low-code No-code?

The reason I started using Delphi was the RAD approach. Now with no-code low-code being new buzzwords, where does Delphi stand on that front?
