Delphi will not open projects or create any new projects

Recommended Posts

Delphi 12.2 active subscription (March 2025)

I usually am in the Delphi IDE daily but have been busy installing a new NAS for the last week. All Delphi work is on my local computer so that should not affect anything, and the old NAS is still in place although I did remove the mapped drive letters.

I just opened Delphi to create a simple little program and now it won't open or create any new projects. If I try to open a new project (VCL or Multiple Platform, I tried both) I just get the spinning cursor and no activity in Task Manager 0% cpu, disk and network activity. Same if I try to open a project just the spinning blue cursor. I even tried File/Open Project and navigating to the directory instead of recent projects. My projects are intact in the default Embarcadero folder. I did not install the October patch so I tried that as well, after clicking on the install button.. nothing. I have Delphi installed on another computer inside a VM (where I usually work) and the same there, however my laptop install works fine. So 3 installs Dell desktop VirtualBox VM and laptop 2 for 3 not working with same symptoms

I have an older Delphi 11 version installed on the Dell desktop and it works as well.

Any ideas??

@timfrost

I vaguely remember using process monitor way back when, thanks for the reminder that did it. It was NexusDB. I had downloaded their free version I guess it has a time limit?

Access was denied when trying to create this file: C:\ProgramData\NexusDB4\nxSupport.dll\C%3A%5CProgram%20Files%20(x86)%5CEmbarcadero%5CStudio%5C23.0%5Cbin%5C\bdsException_TOPDOGDELL_gshel.log

I uninstalled NexusDB and all is well!!

Thank You
