Off topic...

We have recently renewed our code signing certificate and have been bitten by the Microsoft SmartScreen filter which shows a warning that this software “could harm your computer” 😲
And despite the fact that:

  • We are using a perfectly valid certificate from Sectigo, a trustworthy authority
  • There is absolutely no sign of virus or spyware according to Windows defender and dozens of antivirus software from Google’s owned VirusTotal
  • Reputation wise, HelpNDoc has been available for almost 20 years: https://www.helpndoc.com/whats-new/

I know that this will be solved eventually as more people download and install this update, but it is always a PITA when that happens on major releases.
My only hope is that, despite its added difficulties, the new requirements for code signing certificate will solve this problem in the future.
