GExperts Procedure List: Show ALL procedures in the whole project
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in GExperts
This is a non-argument because code organization and a good global procure list tool are not opposites: You can and should have BOTH. If somebody asks you whether we should prefer BEER or WINE I would answer: Well, beer tastes better with certain dishes and wine with other dishes. Preferring only one of the two with all dishes is - sorry - stupid. And if you're that good ad code-organizing I would advise you to write your code with NOTEPAD. -
Maybe you could display your pricelist in Euro and US$ too?

In the Delphi 10.3.1 IDE, when I click on "Install Packages": ...this window opens: While the height of the window can be resized (which you can see from the cursor in the screenshot), the list of the Design Packages has a fixed height. So what sense does a sizeable window make if the height of the contained list is not being automatically resized together with the window?

In The IDE, many UI elements have an associated ToolTip Hint, for example: This Hint is shown when the mouse pointer hovers over the UI control. However, many UI elements do not show an associated Hint, for example the Search field in the IDE title-bar and in some windows: This is an INCONSISTENCY which confuses the novice user and is also illogical. What do you people think? Shouldn't all UI elements show a hint? (There could be a central switch to activate/deactivate the hints if the expert user doesn't need them anymore).

Yes, there are MANY issues regarding these controls in the title bar. But more generally, the primary issue here is the UI INCONSISTENCY mentioned above.

Design Packages list is not resizable
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
Thanks for the link to the article, but it does not answer this question, as the results from this search field are completely UNRELATED to this dialog: In fact, the hints popping up from this search field are related to other IDE dialogs. So this search field seems clearly a colossal BUG. Having a search field in this dialog searching e.g. for options is more or less useless as there are only a few options in this dialog: Much more useful in this dialog would be searching/filtering the package names in the current list. I cannot imagine the kind of deep mental confusion which obviously led to this particular BUG and UI disaster. -
Design Packages list is not resizable
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
However, this window seems to remember its previous size and adjust the list size to the window size when the window is opened. So, to enlarge the list size, the window must be 1. Enlarged, then 2 closed, then 3. Reopened. A bit cumbersome, but it works. -
Design Packages list is not resizable
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
Thomas, thanks for the confirmation. I have also not yet discovered the purpose of the Search field in the title bar of this window (attention, this is sarcasm): The package names cannot be searched/filtered with this control. Is this a bug? -
GetIt Package Manager Item buttons only partially visible

And BTW, assuming that a list item containing several elements would always have the same designed height at runtime would be questionable at least. -
GetIt Package Manager Item buttons only partially visible
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
But as I've said before: This bug occurs only in the GetIt window. So it seems reasonable to deduce that it is a bug located specifically in GetIt. -
GetIt Package Manager Item buttons only partially visible
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
Uwe, I don't think that this is a smart comment. The bug mentioned in the comment is stupid because it has been introduced by a programmer who could have done better. I also don't think that writing personal insults is a good habit. -
GetIt Package Manager Item buttons only partially visible
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
So why it's only the GetIt Items list? The rest of the IDE is OK. This is clearly a STUPID bug in GetIt. -
The Shellplus website (http://www.shellplus.com) sold the ShellPlus library for Delphi (last version was 3.15 for Delphi 10.1 Berlin). The website can still be loaded, but nobody answers to contact emails. Does anybody know whether the ShellPlus product is dead?

But they still don't answer.

The number of bugs in GetIt is incredible: https://quality.embarcadero.com/browse/RSP-10424?jql=text ~ "GetIt" It is not possible to insert an URL here. You need to paste the above URL into your browsers address bar! -
GetIt Package Manager Item buttons only partially visible
PeterPanettone replied to PeterPanettone's topic in Delphi IDE and APIs
But everything else in the IDE is in place. (I.e. nothing else in the IDE is out of place). Only the GetIt Package Manager has these elements out of place. This means that that the GeitIt PackageManager has bugs. -

This does not solve the problem: -
In Delphi 10.3.1 Rio, I have the Form Designer detached from the main IDE window: When the Code Editor in the main IDE window is focused, I have these 3 toolbars above the Code Editor: The toolbars (2) and (3) are from MMX. Toolbar (1) SUPPOSEDLY is a native toolbar from the Delphi IDE. But it seems not to be listed in the Customize list of toolbars? I have not found any way to hide this toolbar. How can I hide it? Why do I want to hide it? First, its functionality is already contained in MMX, so this toolbar is a waste of space. There is also this problem: When I select the form in the detached Form Designer then this toolbar (1) gets automatically hidden. When I then reselect the Code Editor in the main Delphi IDE window then this toolbar (1) automatically reappears which causes considerable flickering, and because of this flickering, a portion of code in the code editor gets selected which is VERY ANNOYING! So how can I HIDE this toolbar (1)?

Has anyone tried to install ErrorSoft VCL Components 3.1 from GetIt Package Manager in Delphi Rio 10.3.1: The installer does not finish and an error message is displayed "Error when executing an action of ErrorSoft VCL Components catalog. The action ID is 7": I have tried several times, since computers are not deterministic (many say that computers have a free will).

Thanks for testing. But as I said, installing the packages manually did work. -

Meanwhile, I succeeded by installing the single packages manually in the IDE.
