As for hardware; Uwe supplied the link, a full Linux version is required (no router). I have that running but I'm thinking about hardware failure and in that case running a license server on the same machine(s) isn't optimal. I do have an Ubuntu Azure VM running and that may be the best way to do this.. Share this post Link to post

Since it's not a requirement that this server is running at all times (the IDE must see it only once in a while), it's quite fine to run it in a VM on the same machine. A VM can also be easily backed up to guard against hardware failure. Personally I wouldn't put it "into the cloud". I don't trust their security. As I also wrote in my blog, ours is running in our company intranet and I access it from my PC at home through an ssh tunnel. I only open that connection about once every two weeks to reset the IDE's license countdown. Share this post Link to post
John Kouraklis 94 Posted November 10, 2019 Anyone knows how is the license being checked? Does the IDE check with the license manager or the compiler runs its own checks as well? Share this post Link to post
