Joe Sansalone 0 Posted Monday at 06:48 PM Hi, I'm looking to get a macbook pro (M1) and run Windows under Parallels to develop using the Delphi IDE. Not sure Windows/Parallels is fully ready for the M1 macbook. But I was wondering if any developer has tried this OR if there's anyone from Embarcadero looking into this ... to make sure it'll work. Any info would be appreciated. Joe Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 837 Posted Tuesday at 02:16 PM https://www.parallels.com/blogs/parallels-desktop-apple-silicon-mac/ Quote It is important to note that currently available versions of Parallels® Desktop for Mac cannot run virtual machines on Mac with the M1 chip. The good news: a new version of Parallels Desktop for Mac that can run on Mac with the M1 chip is already in active development. With a subscription of Parallels Desktop, you’ll always have access to the latest versions. Share this post Link to post
Joe Sansalone 0 Posted Tuesday at 06:08 PM Hoping that when it's ready Delphi IDE will run fine on Windows ARM, even if it's using a x86-to-ARM emulator. Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 837 Posted Tuesday at 08:02 PM I'll be waiting for the next generation, or until they fix this: PC Gamer: Apple M1 Macs appear to be chewing through their SSDs. https://www.pcgamer.com/apple-m1-macs-appear-to-be-chewing-through-their-ssds/ Share this post Link to post
Joe Sansalone 0 Posted Tuesday at 09:09 PM I'm also waiting for the M1X (or M2) macbook pro 16 inch. I suspect that the SSD problem is one of too little RAM - way too much swapping going on. This shouldn't be a problem on 16GB+ RAM systems. I'm hoping the next generation is ready in the next couple of months. Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 837 Posted Wednesday at 05:51 AM I think you are right about the swap issue. Yet another problem has surfaced. I am glad I didn't spring for the Mini.
