Attila Kovacs 629 Posted November 14 Hi there, The question is for advanced EurekaLog users: I would like to see if the user opts out of sending the screenshot with the error report, but at the stage when the EL dialog is shown, the report is already compiled. However, I could still append files to the zip, but only existing files, but I do not want to write to the disk. I want to see it because it often comes without any image, and I'm not sure why. Maybe one of you has an idea how to achieve this. Any sign in the email or the error report would be enough. thx Share this post Link to post

Lars Fosdal 1791 Posted Friday at 09:31 AM (edited) I don't use the EL dialog nor do I capture screenshots. @Attila Kovacs But, in EL Options, under dialog: it looks like you can make screenshots mandatory? Disclaimer - I haven't tested it. Edit: Well, reading the docs says it doesn't work that way - and that there are GDPR pitfalls if not asking for consent. https://www.eurekalog.com/help/eurekalog/index.php?bug_report_screenshot.php Edited Friday at 09:35 AM by Lars Fosdal Fact check Share this post Link to post

Yeah, the question remains, I just need to know if the checkbox is unchecked. (Thinking aloud, the user should be able to see a preview of the screenshot. Based on the dialog, there is no information if it's a screenshot of the app, the form of the app, or the whole screen. No wonder if they are mistrustful.) (Thinking aloud 2, the user should be able to crop the image and wipe out parts of it.) Edited Friday at 10:57 AM by Attila Kovacs Share this post Link to post

Sorry, but you are not right. For example no one can ACQUIRE data about HEALT status without your explicity WRITTEN and PREVIOUS consent. Thw European law is not only about how you threat the data, but also about you acquire the data ... So if one send you a screen shoot with name, age a healt status behind the scenes, you will be in fault if you don't have the explicity consent. This happened to a client of mine (for whom I made a piece of management software). It is not uncommon to find difficulties in sending information, that is, sending it and having a response, due to the GDPR. 1 Share this post Link to post

I might very well be wrong; I don't know enough about GDPR to say otherwise and I should probably keep my mouth shut about the topic. However, I do have some experience with GDPR having worked at medical device- and a pharmacy POS suppliers, with direct access to client/patient data. Only people who had been given permission to act as an agent of the user/customer were allowed to access user data. My point was not that the screenshot wasn't a GDPR violation but that it wasn't much different from the rest of the bug report. 6 hours ago, DelphiUdIT said: So if one send you a screen shoot with name, age a healt status behind the scenes, you will be in fault if you don't have the explicity consent. I agree; If the application just gathers data (screenshot or not) and sends it of without user consent to a third-party, which haven't been given permission to act as an agent of the user, then yes, there's definitely potential for a violation. But if the end-user is given opportunity to review the data then I believe it's their problem. With madExcept it's possible to have the user review the bug report data, and the screenshot if there is one, before it is sent. I can't remember if EurekaLog has a similar feature. 1 Share this post Link to post

I didn't know that MadExcept could do this. Share this post Link to post
