Joe Sansalone 6 Posted March 16, 2022 Hi, I've never used the Migration Tool that comes with Delphi. Does it migrate IDE settings and installed packages? Thinking of using it for Delphi 11 to Delphi 11.1. Any tips? Share this post Link to post
Lajos Juhász 293 Posted March 16, 2022 It's not required. Delpi 11 and 11.1 is the same (major) release. Share this post Link to post
Joe Sansalone 6 Posted March 16, 2022 Ok. I thought we need to re-install packages etc because 11.1 seems to be a FULL install. Share this post Link to post

BTW, you can as well use the migration tool to save the registry settings and restore them later - just to be on the safe side. Share this post Link to post
Joe Sansalone 6 Posted March 16, 2022 Luckily I saved the registry settings! 11.1 Web Install did not preserve any settings. Thanks. Share this post Link to post

Faced somehow the same issue. All packages were left, but search path was screwed (some path survived the update while a lot didn't). What did you select when you were asked to remove the registry entries or to keep them? Share this post Link to post
Joe Sansalone 6 Posted March 16, 2022 I let the new setup uninstall. And I selected to keep registry. I believe the options were 1. Yes - remove registry entries 2. No - do not remove. (default) <---- simply left at as is. Share this post Link to post
Uwe Raabe 2058 Posted March 16, 2022 I did the same and all registry entries persisted. Even the Win64 library ones. Share this post Link to post
Roger Cigol 103 Posted March 17, 2022 I too selected "option 2" and all the registry entries seem to have persisted. My (limited) use of 11.1 makes me feel it is a great improvement over 11.0 Share this post Link to post
Uwe Raabe 2058 Posted March 17, 2022 It would be helpful if we could identify the reason why it doesn't work for some of us. Share this post Link to post
Joe Sansalone 6 Posted March 17, 2022 After downloading the Web Install file, I ran it and soon after popped up some error (I don't remember what it was), I clicked continue and it kept popping up some error even though it kept continuing. At some point, it would not continue ... so I ran the Web Install file again. That's when it installed Delphi ... but did not keep registry entries. Share this post Link to post
Uwe Raabe 2058 Posted March 17, 2022 IIRC, keeping the registry settings is something the uninstaller does (or does not). Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 1792 Posted March 18, 2022 For some reason, 11.1 decided to discard the TMS and Eurekalog components on install, but it kept the general reg settings for the IDE. Didn't check the 64-bit paths - because we are still on 32-bit due to the state of the 64-bit debugger. Share this post Link to post

Not for me. I used a Web installer. During the installation, I chose to keep the settings. Share this post Link to post
