    JSON benchmarks

hydrobyte/TestJSON: A simple project to test JSON libraries with Delphi and C++Builder. presents JSON library benchmarks comparing a large number of alternatives. One thing that strikes me, is that the System.JSON rtl library is doing relatively well compared to the competition, both in terms of performance and in terms of JSON validation. With the exception of Find, is very competitive in all other areas. I have seen many claims that System.JSON is very slow and that the xyz library is so many times faster. Do these benchmarks suck (like most benchmarks)? Or is it the case that System.JSON is not that bad? What is your experience?

    JSON benchmarks

FWIW, such benchmarks should also run in parallel because especially string-related parsing is usually full of heap allocations that can suffer highly in multithreading. I am also sure that @Arnaud Bouchez could join the game and stomp all these libraries into the ground performancewise with mormot

What are the performance profilers for Delphi 12?

This morning, I started the 14-day trial of Superluminal, and my first impression is very positive. I have yet to run it against more than some tiny toy projects though

What does [ref] attribute actually dows

I think that original need to introducing [ref] was the need to force passing value parameters as references so they would match some cross platform API. I don't remember whether that was merely a difference between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms, or there were other OS involved. I also don't remember whether C++ Builder support also had something to do with it. AFAIK, Allen Bauer explained this somewhere. I am not sure if this was only on his blog or it was also mentioned on old forums. New FreeAndNil implementation came years later and it merely used the feature that was introduced for other reasons.

  7. Hello, I am not able to start 1 Android app of 3 apps since migration to Delphi 11. I did the "Revert system files to default" on Libraries. It fails in FMX.Platform.Android, TPlatformAndroid.Create, on the line Activity.addListener(FActivityListener): Please any ideas what can be wrong / how to repair it?

Android app does not start after migration to Delphi 11

Fixed it: If you encounter this issue open the project's .dproj file with notepad and search for the <EnabledSysJars> tag. Remove the content between the <EnabledSysJars></EnabledSysJars> tag. and save the file. Building should work now.
