RSS feeds for new posts ?

Hi,

I had a request to add https://en.delphipraxis.net/ to https://www.beginend.net/ however I am not sure which RSS feed could be used to obtain new recent topics ? 

The activity streams have a few, but they appear centered on my own activity.

Not sure whether this is a good idea. The main RSS feed is quite noisy and will dominate all other feeds.

AFAICT https://en.delphipraxis.net/discover/all.xml/ is the global activity one, and it lists every reply 😕

Even I was able to filter out the replies and keep only new topics, it is very short, so new topics would easily be missed.

It would be placed in the sidebar, alongside the other forums.

What if one really wants to list only the new forum posts? I tried https://en.delphipraxis.net/discover/new.xml but that doesn't work.

Personal streams are not availaible for other users or for anonymous access.

You select 'items only' and 'topics' and still get replies? What I want is a list of new items only...

The discover/38 seems fine indeed, the corresponding RSS is missing the GUID fields, but I can work with that.

Actually I'd prefer the second one, because it is the internal solution without plugins.

For the moment I just want to know if it satisfies or not. 😉 So I am offering both for the moment and waiting for feedback.

As soon as it becomes clear that this feed will help us, it will get a real name and it's final url.

The single feed is decent enough. The test feed seems better than the plugin feed because the plugin feed has HTML in the description. The only draw back vs. pulling each individual forum is with the forum pull the forum/category of the post is known. The all feed doesn't have that though RSS probably has a field for it.

 

TListView on the other hand is entirely unsuitable for displaying the feed however.

How does it differ for you from the second one?

The feed you mentioned is provided by an addon to this software. while this is an option, I'd like to push the built-in solutions if possible.

Using The Old Reader (https://theoldreader.com/), it seems like the rssalltopics.xml (Forums) gives the best readability, while the 1-new-topics.xml (New Topics) sort of mangle the contents.

Both should probably be modified to contain "Delphi PRAXiS" instead of the "New Topics" / "Forum topics" - as the name doesn't really show up in the RSS readers.

 

Forums: Embedded graphics is nice.

 

Forums: Easier to read code snippets

 

 

Forums: Clickable URL is nice.

 

 

Forums: Showing something that resembles the original formatting is nice.
