I know, most likely I'm biased, but I'm not aware of any other working dataset enumerator than this one: https://github.com/UweRaabe/DataSetEnumerator. First described a couple of years ago on my blog: Dataset Enumerator Reloaded and now part of CmonLib.
  4. I found it: One has to implement WMNCCalcSize in the form and, if the window is maximized, decrement NCCalcSizeParams.rgrc[0].Bottom or NCCalcSizeParams.rgrc[0].Right by one, so the taskbar can be activated there.

Nope. Eof simply evaluates the current record, it does not move to another record. Hence the need to call Next() explicitly. Yes.

INTAServices.AddMasked seems to be broken in Delphi 12

Dowloaded and installed the latest rev 4182. After 20 minutes of testing, all good so far.

    Run in new desktop

The first application i ran was ProcessExplorer https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer ,that way i can see what is going on, also i can do many tasks like kill the Windows Explorer and start it again, this like a rule of thumb for me, as this application most likely went through Microsoft testing also being used by millions, and followed the best practice to the letter. After it worked fine, and i failed to reproduce your black screen, tried few other application with GUI and console and no problem too. So try with it for easier get out of locked desktop.

    Run in new desktop

Uhmm ... you used a wrong words .... for me is "many times", not "few times" , 4 times I went in the lock screen. Like you wrote, something about Windows 11 is wrong. I cannot help 'cause I have not experience in this case. I never used CreateDesktop or similar api. Good luck and let us knows if you'll resolve the question.

Overview of the generated files after build/compile

There is no such list generated by the IDE/compiler. And the only documentation that I know of which talks about generated files is: File Types Index File Extensions of Files Generated by RAD Studio
  10. Hi, Sherlock, I disagree with you. I don't think styles are a toy or a waste of EMB time and money. Styles are a necessary tool to allow us developers to modify our apps. I agree that massive changes are ill-advised and will confuse the user. But many modern apps (including the IDE) have a dark mode, which is what we are using styles for. We're not going to make massive changes to the UI that would confuse the user.

Your experience with custom styles - do they work well?

I develop only VCL for Windows and my target are almost exclusively Win10 e Win11 (and Win2012 server+). Windows 7 practically disappeared from my customer PCs and Windows 8 never appeared. In my scenario I'm happily using styles: with latest Alexandria 11.x EMB provide at least 4 default VCL styles HIDPI compliant 2 for Win10 and 2 for Win11 (2 = light + dark). I decide in real time the style to use based on the SysOp and the user's choice to use the light or dark theme of Windows and I get an acceptable result and an UI compliant with that of the SysOp. Without styles in VCL its impossibile to create dark apps.

That doesn't hold for applications that have to conform to some external guide lines like Corporate Identity or security considerations. Imagine a control software for a machine or automat that looks different depending on the OS used for the current hardware. What if the software on the stationary PC looks different to that used on an iPad for remote access. There are plenty of use cases where the look and feel of a software has to be independent from the underlying operating system - and be it just independent of its current version.

With all this primitive tiles and simplified monochrome UI the OS vendors are enforcing, I doubt styles stuff will ever be actual again like in the times of WinAmp.

Isn't that a highly subjective question? Any answer would probably depend on someone's personal opinion.

No. I just knew the feature supposedly exists. Ouch! And not even opened for review yet....
