  1. I am not questioning the number, but the explanation is moot. I have noticed that US folks (companies) have some strange desire to treat anyone outside of white male group as some sort of victims, which is both insulting and is not based in reality. I don't know, maybe women in US feel differently, but again, that has nothing to do with SO and moderation, but general culture. I have noticed that some people try to play victim card purely because it will give them advantage, and maybe some even think that is so, but that is something they need to fix on personal level. Also one of the explanations for low participation of women on SO is that they are afraid, but maybe they are just more thorough in their research and are better in solving problems on their own. I certainly used SO for years before I joined, but not because I was afraid, but simply because I didn't have the need to ask any questions. And when I joined I did that because I wanted to leave comment under one question about some high DPI bug, but then I needed 50 rep to do that, so I started answering... Point is, that anything is possible and it depends on each individual. Painting everyone with the same brush based on some completely unrelated characteristic is pure nonsense.
  2. That is complete nonsense. Company loves analyzing their surveys by skewing context and seeing things that are not there. There is no barrier for entry for anyone based on who they are. Anyone can be as anonymous as they like or present themselves as they please. There are moderators with names UserXXXX.
  3. Probably rather low. Maybe a handful, unless we count all the Italian guys named Andrea and Danielle as women, too (PS those names are female in Croatia and it took me a while to find they are male names in Italy)
  4. I participated in an IT event this winter, where gender discrimination was one of many sub-topics, and there was many real-life examples by women who had experienced it. Gender discrimination still is a real issue - particularly for the young women starting their careers.
  5. I have no problem with women plumbers, electricians, engineers, even astronauts (depending on a mission). But I would definitely draw the line with fighter pilots, or fire fighters and similar. The physical failure in critical moment can cost lives and not just theirs. We have to be real. There are plenty of jobs where physical fitness is required, but it is not absolutely critical. There are some jobs where it is. And again it is not that women couldn't do it, or that women shouldn't do it if there are no better fit men for the job, but I see equality being pushed in places where there is no place for it and where it could be dangerous because exceptional circumstances are part of the job and where physical strength is vital.
  6. Yet, women are fighter pilots, front line soldiers, astronauts, mountain climbers, race car drivers, plumbers, electricians, engineers, and what not. IMO, equality is about more than comparing physical traits. It is about mentality, attitude and equal opportunities. I think it is good for any industry to have a balanced work force, hence we need to find out why there are less female programmers, and not bury our heads in the sand, like SO did with their yearly polls.
  7. They just tried that and it was complete disaster https://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/425162/we-are-seeking-functional-feedback-for-the-formatting-assistant
  8. I just did some deshittification and perma-deleted my Reddit account. It followed my Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat accounts. I never was on TikTok. Enough with the corporate anti-social media. I'd rather be an anti-social among other anti-socials on a truly social platform like Mastodon.
  9. IMHO Tiktok has been a pile of shit from the very beginning so nothing is changing. It just rots. However, I agree that most of services degrade. Google's dark patterns of marking ads, Facebook's spamming with endless useless crap. Local taxi app has integrated food delivery (with the price of 50% slowdown) - who the hell needs pizza popups when he wants to move from point A to point B?? Anyway I'm glad to learn the right term. It should be a RHCP song : " It's understood that Hollywood sells Enshittification "

    Colored Notification Icon

Google allows you to set an accent color for your push notifications. If you don't set a custom accent color, Android will use a grey accent color. by default only White/Black is used on alphacolor... any other should show a "white square"

    IOS 16 SDK support?

Ouch. I'm hoping that's an error...
  12. Why are you so obsessively interested in what others are doing? Why don't you go where you feel good? 😄
  13. I stopped asking or answering questions on SO years ago due to the moderation. Life is too short to bother with the aggravation.

    IOS 16 SDK support?

Here is a response from the product development. They could have announced this months ago but they are just letting developers figure out reading the fine print. " Starting April 25 2023, Apple only accepts App Store submissions built with XCode 14.1, requiring the iOS 16 SDK. C++Builder 11.3 supports building iOS applications with the iOS 15 SDK, but does not support the iOS 16 SDK. We have no immediate plans to add support for this SDK version. C++Builder remains capable of targeting the iOS 15 SDK, including distribution of apps through private Ad-Hoc Deployment. Embarcadero remains committed to C++Builder and RAD Studio, and is focusing on providing you with a high-quality Windows toolchain. You can read more about our exciting C++ plans for the future in our product manager’s recent blog post. "
