Delphi 12.3 is available

Recommended Posts

I'm curious to hear from people who have experienced failures in 12.2 with code insight and basic navigation features like Find Declaration if this is improved in 12.3.

To be fair, they are being very straightforward about it being a "version 1" release and it isn't even enabled by default.

And it's the same codebase as the 32bit IDE, just compiled as 64 bit.

It's great to be able to use 64bit PostgreSQL interface in the 64bit IDE - You can see the database contents at design time.

Beyond joke, it is cool to get it at least, even if is it a proto version 1(b).

I like your "just". 😉

The IDE is not the only thing in 64 bits : at least the compilers, debuggers and LSP server. 🙂

That said, I'm using the 12.3 RTM since a week and no big problem appeared. It's a little speeder than the 12.2 on the same VM (Windows ARM on a Mac mini M1). LSP is working well but I don't have worked on big projects.

I access to RSS-xxx one's with no problem : But I cannot access to RSP-*** 's. (It display "no ticket")

It is the case on your side too or I'm doing somthing wrong ?

You have to login on QP before trying to access issues. Some of them may be private, even if submitted by the public.

The links are wrong : go to quality.embarcadero.com to search these reports.

Wow. It's been while since they released a version with zero improvements that I had, or could find, a need for.

It's basically bug fixes + a technology preview IDE that I can't use because it can't debug the VCL. Oh well.

Where did you saw the 64 bits IDE can't debug VCL apps ? It works for VCL&FMX in Delphi & C++Builder for 64 bits Windows projects.

If a single project has both C++ and Delphi sources linked together in the same module (this includes static linking to packages), the Delphi source is not debuggable; this version requires dynamic package linking.

I guess I could try it out and see if it could be worked around but since there isn't anything for us in this release I have better things to do.

Oh my, I'm still on Delphi 12.11 and wanted to upgrade to 12.2.

My 12.11 was (is) very stable, so I hesitated with the move.

Now I have to jump to 12.3 immediately and skip 12.2, will Delphi 12.3 be as stable as 12.2, I doubt it.

Shall I update to 12.2 or better directly to 12.3 then?

I hope to get some early responses here on stability for Android, iOS, before I decide this.

If you have to move immediately go to 12.3, don't install the 12.2.

Thats what I think too, but have you tested it already for cross-platform, without issues?

Better I wait a day or two.

Anyone was able to see packages in GetIt for Delphi 12.3. In Categories All I see that there should be 299 entries unfortunately on the right side I see only Getting Started with RAD Studio 1.0 everything else is missing.

I need badly Konopka Signature Controls.

For me GetIt is okay : 408 packages (for an Enterprise edition).

If you installed using the ISO, you have to change GetIt settings to go online.I suppose you already tried to reboot your computer ?

Do you have GetIt elements listed in the welcome page (the two panels under the list of recent projects) ?

Can you create a VCL or FMX project in Delphi and compile it ?

The mobile apps I've compiled are working as expected.

Waiting a few days is a good idea. If you work with a VM you can clone it and upgrade Delphi on one of them.

On the main page I have an error:

---------------------------
Warning
---------------------------
Unable to load URL https://getit-12.embarcadero.com. The following error occurred:
Object lock not owned
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I have tried to set GetIt to online mode, restart done. I have tried to debug a VCL application.

Solution. Run the IDE as administrator. It was not a requirement in earlier versions.

Most probably D12.3  is again not compatible with D12.2. I've tried to open a project group. Unfortunately compile all and clean all both results:

Exception EAccessViolation in module rtl290.bpl at 00132BD4.
Access violation at address 6DEC2BD4 in module 'rtl290.bpl' (offset 132BD4). Read of address 1EB8991C.

You have to delete the files generated from D12.2 in order to be able to work with the project group in D12.3. A bit unexpected a point release should not have this problem.
