A.M. Hoornweg 144 Posted January 16, 2020 Hello all, I would like to test a certain new monospaced font in Delphi but none of my Delphi versions displays it in the font drop-down list. Is there anything I can do to use it anyway? Share this post Link to post
Alexander Elagin 143 Posted January 16, 2020 Because this font family (JetBrains Mono) does not have some internal flag marking it as "monospace". Visual Studio / Windows terminal also do not recognise it as such. Let's wait for a service pack 😉 There is a discussion on this topic in Russian (https://habr.com/ru/company/jugru/news/t/484134/). In fact, I did not like the look of this font when I tried it in Notepad++, YMMV. Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 1792 Posted January 16, 2020 I still haven't found anything that beats Adobe Source Code Pro Share this post Link to post
stijnsanders 35 Posted January 16, 2020 I really like PT Mono, but that's just a personal preference. Share this post Link to post
Stefan Glienke 2002 Posted January 16, 2020 It doesn't matter - they all look terrible in the Delphi IDE on High DPI 1 Share this post Link to post

Kryvich 165 Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) Interestingly, Lazarus can use this font in the editor. Edited January 16, 2020 by Kryvich Share this post Link to post
Uwe Raabe 2057 Posted January 16, 2020 Can Lazarus make use of any font in the editor? Even the non-monospaced ones? Share this post Link to post
Kryvich 165 Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) Yes, it can. Although non-monospaced fonts look ugly in Lazarus. IDE tries to preserve columns in the editor. Edited January 16, 2020 by Kryvich Share this post Link to post
A.M. Hoornweg 144 Posted January 16, 2020 Currently "Consolas" and "Source Code Pro" are my favorites. 2 Share this post Link to post
Arnaud Bouchez 407 Posted January 17, 2020 When I switched to Ubuntu for main OS, I put Ubuntu Mono in my Lazarus IDE and I like the result very much: 1 Share this post Link to post
baeckerg 6 Posted January 18, 2020 I started to work with the new JetBrains Mono - really nice Share this post Link to post
Stefan Glienke 2002 Posted January 22, 2020 Version 1.0.1 now properly identifies as monospace. 3 Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 1792 Posted January 23, 2020 I still think I prefer Source Code Pro. Share this post Link to post
Mike Torrettinni 198 Posted January 24, 2020 I tried Ubuntu Mono and Jetbrains Mono (at sizes 9 and 10) for a couple of hours each, and Source Code Pro at size 9 still best, in Delphi white theme. Monitor: 24", 1920x1200. Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) Lars still prefers Source Code Pro. Edited January 26, 2020 by Guest Share this post Link to post

The uneven height of some of the lowercase letters on JetBrain was the first part of the problem. The second problem was that the font was to "heavy" i.e. the normal was too close to what I consider a bold font. Share this post Link to post
