Der schöne Günther 316 Posted April 4 But what's new? And why is the .iso just 730 Megabytes? 🤔 Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 1789 Posted April 4 That is indeed a bit odd, since the 12.0 ISO was 7.13Gb. Share this post Link to post
Lajos Juhász 292 Posted April 4 The page is wrong. I am downloading it and it is 7.2GB. 1 Share this post Link to post
Angus Robertson 573 Posted April 4 The D12.1 ISO I downloaded is 7.23GB. There is a typo on the download page, Angus 1 Share this post Link to post
Stano 143 Posted April 4 I downloaded RADStudio_12_1_esd_61_7529b.exe. During and after installation it tells me Delphi 12. That doesn't seem right to me. Is it ok? Share this post Link to post
Uwe Raabe 2053 Posted April 4 It is OK. The long name is Delphi 12 Update 1. 1 Share this post Link to post
Sherlock 663 Posted April 4 Quote Embarcadero® Delphi 12 Version 29.0.50491.5718 This is 12 patch 1 version info. They must have done something.... Share this post Link to post
Sherlock 663 Posted April 4 Just spent the last 30 minutes staring at the screen, waiting for progress. Task manager showed high load in MS Defender...so I finally killed that and now the web installer is running. I wonder what was amiss there.... Share this post Link to post

Tommi Prami 130 Posted April 4 Remember to uninstall Parnassus-plugins before installing. Web Installer failed because forgot to uninstall them first. Had to make installer to clean all settings. Takes some time to get all settings as needed because of that. -Tee- Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 1789 Posted April 4 @shineworld AFAIK, only patches and hotfixes come via GetIt. @Tommi Prami Yes, the installer barfs on restarting the installation due to Navigator, but it should be able to recover. Mine did. Share this post Link to post
shineworld 73 Posted April 4 So to get the new 12.1 I've to uninstall and reinstall all by zero? 1] I have got a lot of manually installed 3rd part libraries (13, ... uh...). 2] What happens with the Installation counter? Do they take into account that I've uninstalled it? 2nd question is important because I've two development PCs: 1] main office desktop PC to do work when I'm in the office. 2] A secondary portable notebook to do work when I'm at the customer's factory They are used mutually exclusive, or 1 or 2, but I've already used 2 installations shoots. It should not increase the installation counter. (I am going to test the upgrade process tomorrow or during the weekend.) Share this post Link to post
Lars Fosdal 1789 Posted April 4 I've not had issues with this as long as I keep the old settings. I upgrade two VMs and my workstation. If you run into installation counter issues, contact EMBT support. As for GetIt installations - yeah... that is "fun". I keep my IDE on a GetIt component low count diet. Share this post Link to post
shineworld 73 Posted April 4 Ok, I'm trying... Uninstall does not ask me anything but the new installation asks if to use an Already Existent License 😉 Before, however, I've clonezilled the C disk 🙂 Share this post Link to post
rudy999 2 Posted April 4 I tried to install the web installer and it said that it could not find BDS.EXE. Then I tried to completely un-install, and now an install attempt says "The previous version is not removed. Unable to continue" Am I screwed? I can not install the original 12.0 web install either -same message. Would the ISO image be the next step? TIA Share this post Link to post
shineworld 73 Posted April 4 In the past, I was in trouble with web installation so I always downloaded the full iso image. 1 Share this post Link to post
rudy999 2 Posted April 4 (edited) "A Previous Version of RAD Studio 12 was found on your system" - How can I thoroughly clean up file(s) or registry setting to get past this? "The previous version is not removed. Unable to continue" TIA Edited April 4 by rudy999 Share this post Link to post
Angus Robertson 573 Posted April 4 Quote "A Previous Version of RAD Studio 12 was found on your system" I had that recently when reinstalling D12 in a test VM, the Windows uninstaller system thinks the old version is still installed, and the installer does not check if unins000.exe actually exists, look for this registry entry and remove all the keys: This key is for Delphi 12, other versions will have different keys but searching for Embarcadero will find them. Ian Branch 127 Posted April 4 Installed 12.1 over 12 without using the Web Installer issue. It didn't install the latest Help (.chm) files. 😞 Share this post Link to post
rudy999 2 Posted April 4 OK, I am able to attempt to install now, but back to the original error where installation continues and 'registering entries' and copying files to ..\Embarcadero\Studio\23.0 but fails to install bds.exe. Looking at the 23.0\bin folder - folder structure folders and files are there but NOT bds.exe?! I see bds.* files but not that one... Any help is appreciated Share this post Link to post
