RAD Studio 11 Alexandria is now available

Note that not all GetIt components have been updated for Alexandria yet.

Also - at the point of writing - the docwiki is down for the update.

 

It can be installed in parallell with 10.4.x or older, but remember not to mix your versions.

Forms modified in 11 may then break for 10.4.

Now they support Android 8.1 or newer. For our customers it is a problem (some have barcode scanners with Android 6). Is it possible to create new vesrions of the app in Delphi 11, or I have to keep 10.4.2? Or do apps from Delphi 11 still run fine on Android 6 and they just do not test it?

The installer is failing for me.

These are some details for my subscription;

 

This is what happens when I try to install from the web installer or the ISO installer:

 

Just in case, I downloaded the activation file from the licensing page:

 

and tried removing the license from licensing manager, and leting the installer use the new one

 

Result: Delphi 10.3 and 10.4 keep running with the license, but Delphi 11 won't install

Installed it on notebook running Windows 11 Beta.

Plain installation went ok, no exception orso, simple test projects are running ok.

tomorrow test the codecompletion somewhat more.

Is there a full white paper of all changes, bug fixes, additions, etc. yet? I can't seem to find a detailed list.

Javier Tarí - I have the same problem.
I tried everything I could and knew.
Downloading the registration file didn't help either.

Is it really RAD Studio 11 Alexandria? 

 

The version in Help/About just says Embarcadero® RAD Studio 11.0 Version 28.0.42600.6491, no mention of a name.  Nor is anything displayed on the splash during startup.

 

The only place I see Alexandria is for the license key. 

 

Alexandria was also the beta code name, and every 10.x release had a different code name to release name.  The main web site does not mention Alexandria either, except buried in two pages. 

 

I'm planning on calling it 11.0 unless I hear otherwise.

"To anyone trying to install RAD Studio 11, there is a hiccup on license refresh: In the Product Registration window please select the Advanced button, and in the License manager select your license and use the Update button. Alexandria gets added, continue with installation."

Nothing compiles for me.. but I still can't get to DocuWiki and the help 'What's new' seems all 10.4 stuff..

Please do. The name helps no one and just adds confusion.

I don't know why they thought it would be smart to name versions. I have to google it every time someone refers to a version by name.

I have that same problem. I guess it is not activated for all licenses. Delphi 11 appears on the client page, but not in the License manager application. Although I have a subscription until 2023. I will wait for tomorrow.

Not sure what you wrote but I had to pick the license without the Mobile add-on for it to work.. in Windows 7 that is..

Apparently some combinations of licenses and configurations don't work correctly... it's not 100% failure.  I'd like to see that actual percentage though as I couldn't get my named network license to install either.

The place they chose to honor for this release was Alexandria ... don't know if that's the place in Virginia or Greece, but it's what they decided to call it.

 

You can call it whatever you like as long as you keep it to yourself. It can be your own secret! 🙂
